What I’ve Been Reading: Quarterly Wrap-Up

My reading habits largely depend on how busy I am. January and February are always insanely busy months for me, where November and December are quieter. This means that my reading tends to be very sporadic, ranging from two books a month to twelve a month, depending on the month. That’s why I’ve decided to do a quarterly wrap-up instead to make this a little easier on myself.

January

The Starless SeaJanuary was as always a busy month, where I only managed to read three books and DNF one book. I’m not going to go too much into my thoughts on the books, or what the books are about, but you can check out my reviews for the books, linked below!

  • The Starless Sea – 3.5 Stars / Review
  • Look Both Ways – 5 Stars / Review
  • Follow Me Like Me – 2.5 Stars / Review
  • The Winter Duke – 4 Stars / Review

January was definitely not my best reading month, but February looked much better.

February

February was busy but better. I managed to read six books, which were all considerably better reads than January’s books.

  • The Raven and The Dove – 4 Stars / Review
  • Wayward Son – No Rating
  • A River of Royal Blood – 4.5 Stars / Review
  • The Deep – 3 Stars / Review
  • Fix Her Up – No Rating
  • Woven in Moonlight – No Rating

Now as some of you may know, I don’t rate books I read for fun. If I don’t have to write a review for the book, I won’t give it a rating. I feel like sometimes I just want to read a book for fun, and not have to worry about whether it deserves five stars or four. So that’s why some of the books I read are not given ratings. I don’t want to have to assign a value to everything I read.

March

Lockdown Reading ListMarch was an excellent reading month for me, mainly because I spent the last part of March in lockdown thanks to COVID-19. At least some good came of this.

  • Every Heart a Doorway – No Rating
  • The Disasters – 3.5 Stars / Review to come
  • The Shadows Between Us – No Rating
  • Down Among the Sticks and Bones – No Rating
  • One Of Us is Next – 5 Stars / Review to come
  • Lady Smoke – 4 Stars / Review to come
  • Last Memoria – 3 Stars / Review to come
  • Beneath The Sugar Sky – No Rating
  • Wicked Like Wildfire – 3.5 Stars / Review
  • Fierce Like a Firestorm – 3.5 Stars / Review
  • Only Mostly Devastated – 5 Stars / Review

I started listening to the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire and I’m completely hooked. Also, I have some outstanding reviews to come so keep an eye on my blog. That’s it for my quarterly wrap-up, I hope you enjoyed it!

How was the first quarter of your reading year?

  1. I usually read an average of 15 books a month and so far doing well. I babysit my grandchildren full time and still am as the parents’ jobs are essential but my weekends are free to read all I want.

  2. It looks like you have had a brilliant start to 2020 with all these books! It’s such a great opportunity to catch up with reading at the moment, hope you enjoy your upcoming books! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely weekend <3 xx

  3. Great article. I love reading wrap-ups! You’ve read some interesting books. A lot of them are on my own TBR still. Seeing you didn’t rate Fix her Up > what did you think of the book? I’m curious. Every heart a doorway is on my wishlist so it’s good to see you liked it! And the shadows between us is on my tbr at the moment.

    1. If I had to give it a rating, I’d say five stars. It was a cute story with some spice and I loved it.

  4. Great wrap up! In terms of quality, January was definitely my worst reading month too. I don’t know why but most of the books I read were meh. In terms quantity, I don’t think this quarantine makes a difference in the number of books I’ve read. I know I should be able to read more, but I just didn’t haha!
