April Reading Wrap-Up!
Hi friends! I hope the last few weeks have been good to you. Today I’m bringing you my April Reading Wrap-Up! I’ve had a busy few weeks (I started a new job) and I am still trying to adjust, so my content might be more spaced out than usual.
I’m going to try to keep posting twice a week, but it might not work out. Let’s see what happens.
April Reading Wrap-Up: Books I Read in April
April was another good month for me. I read 9 books, one more than the previous month, and I enjoyed most of them. I consider that a win. Here’s my April reading wrap-up:
Lost in the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas
I listened to this audiobook (courtesy of Libro.FM) and I really liked the story. It didn’t blow me away, but it was okay. Lost in the Never Woods is a dark Peter Pan retelling that follows Wendy as she deals with the grief of losing her brothers and being unable to remember what happened the day they went missing. Check out my review for this book, as well as my Libro.FM referral code!

The Great Godden by Meg Rosoff
This was a strange book, I’m not going to lie. But I did enjoy it a lot. The Great Godden follows a family on their summer vacation. When two famous stars join them on vacation, chaos, and heartbreak ensue. This was a quick and fascinating read. Check out my review below!
Thank you to Jonathan Ball Publishers for the review copy!
Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
Romance is quickly becoming one of my favourite genres tbh. I LOVED Take a Hint, Dani Brown. This book follows Dani, who is very against relationships. After a video goes viral of a security guard rescuing her from a building, she agrees to fake date him. Fake dating is a great trope, and this book was so funny and heartwarming. If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly suggest you try it out!
We read the first book for our book club and it was just so much fun.

A Golden Fury by Samantha Cohoe
I also listened to the audiobook of A Golden Fury and the narrator did a fantastic job. Her voice was so soothing and just really fit the book and the character well. Unfortunately, this was another middle-of-the-road book for me, but it is a great YA fantasy for beginners. A Golden Fury follows Thea as she tries to create the philosopher’s stone. There are a lot of twists and betrayals in this one, so definitely check it out!
The Drowning Faith by R.F. Kuang
If you know me, you’d know I die for Rin and Nezha. I just had to read The Drowning Faith, a collection of three short stories from Nezha’s perspective. Trust me, it’s worth it.
Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo
Of course, I was going to read Rule of Wolves as soon as it released. This book was everything I wanted it to be. It felt like Leigh Bardugo put much more thought into this book and everything just worked well. This was a five-star read for me, and I cannot wait for more Grishaverse books.

The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He
Another five-star read for April! This book literally blew me away. It was so good. The Ones We’re Meant to Find is a story of two sisters, eco-disasters, and finding yourself and your loved ones. I highly recommend this one!

A Dark and Hollow Star by Ashley Shuttleworth
This was our April Read Better Book Club pick. It was a fun read, but I was a little disappointed by it overall. I’m not sure I’ll be continuing with the series, but look out for my review coming soon! A Dark and Hollow Star is an urban fantasy that follows four queer fae as they try to solve the murders of people in their community.
Twisted Love by Ana Huang
Another romance on the list. Sometimes you just need to cut some high fantasy with a fun and easy-to-read romance. Twisted Love involves a douchy guy who also happens to be Ava’s brother’s best friend. He’s overprotective and an ass, but Ava can’t seem to stay away from him. I enjoyed it, and I cannot wait for more books in this series!
That’s my April Reading Wrap-Up!
April Hauls
Once again I bought way too many books. I might have a serious problem. Here are the books I hauled in April:
- The Reckless Afterlife of Harriet Stoker by Lauren James (our book club pick for May)
- The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna (review copy from Penguin Random House)
- The Witchlands Box Set by Susan Dennard (bought)
- Caliban’s War by James S.A. Corey (bought)
- Across the Void by S.K. Vaughn (bought)
April ARCs
I tried not to request any ARCs in April, but once again Netgalley and Edelweiss foiled my plans. Here are the ARCs I got in April:
- A War of Swallowed Stars by Sangu Mandanna
- The Upper World by Femi Fadugba
- Little Thieves by Margaret Owen
- City of Shattered Light by Claire Winn

How did your reading month go?
Talia Hibbert is an author I keep meaning to try. Her Brown sister series keeps calling to me.
You have had a great reading month in April. I enjoyed your wrap up.
Looks like a solid month to me, including books on my TBR or that I suspect I would enjoy. Hope your May reading is enjoyable.
You had a good reading month. Congrats on the new job.
It looks like you had a great reading month. I’ve not read any of those but they sound interesting. Congratulations on your new job. Here’s to a great May too.
I love that romance is becoming one of your favourite genres! It’s a favourite of mine and I just don’t think it gets the love it deserves. Anyway, glad to see you had a good April!
Looks like April was a pretty good month for you 🙂 I’ve sadly only read a few books this year … major slump.
Great month of reading!
I’m glad you wound up enjoying Rule of Wolves. I felt like it was fanfic rather than canon and it seemed rushed to be completed before the show. Considering it’s the final book for the entire Grishaverse, it’s hard for me to feel satisfied by the ending. I hope one day, she reconsiders and writes more! I’d like to pick up The Ones We’re Meant to Find. So far, I haven’t heard a single negative thing about it and plus, the cover is gorgeous sooo clearly it’s a good choice 😉
