February 2022 Reading Wrap-Up

Hi friends! Welcome to my February 2022 Reading Wrap-Up. February was a great reading month for me, I managed to read 11 books this month. It’s one of my best reading months by far. I’ve read more 5 star books in these first three months of the year than I read all of last year. Let’s just hope my good reading streak lasts.

February 2022 Reading Wrap-Up

Mr Wrong Number by Lynn Painter (3.5 Stars)

It took me an abnormally long time to read this book. I struggled through the first 20% mainly because I really disliked the main character. I received an eARC of this book, but I’m going to keep my review for a special reading blog. Look out for that in a few months. However, I can tell you that I enjoyed the last part of this book a lot, and Colin can step on me, please.

Network Effect by Martha Wells (5 Stars)

2022 is the year of sci-fi for me. I had the absolute best time listening to Network Effect, the fifth book in the Murderbot Diaries. This was Murderbot’s first full-length novel and it was so much fun. I am definitely in love with this series. It’s an epic space adventure and Murderbot is an amazing protagonist. If you haven’t read this series yet, you are missing out.

Fugitive Telemetry by Martha Wells (4 Stars)

Of course, I immediately needed to read the next Murderbot book. Technically this book takes place before Network Effect, but it was published after. Murderbot was in fine form, and very annoyed with the humans. I liked the murder mystery aspect of this and the twist at the end was a nice touch. I hope we get to see more of Murderbot and his adventures with ART in the next three books. So far I know, three more books have been confirmed for the series. I would like to pick up where Network Effect left off.

Under One Roof by Ali Hazelwood (4 Stars)

Ali Hazelwood is my queen and I will read everything she puts out. I listened to Under One Roof as soon as the audiobook was released. It’s the cutest novella I’ve ever read. The romance is just so sweet and I want my own personal Liam Harding. I’m really excited for the other two novellas in this series to come out. I will be reading them immediately.

The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake (3 Stars)

Yes, I finally read The Atlas Six. Dark academia is my jam, and I’ve had this book on my Kindle Library for a while. I finally got to it when I was sent a review copy for the traditionally published version. You can read all of my thoughts in the post below!

The Atlas Six Review!

Dark and Shallow Lies by Ginny Myers Sain (5 Stars)

This is a mystery/thriller coming of age story set in the bayou and I was completely hooked. It’s dark, creepy, sad, and beautiful all at once. I inhaled this book in one sitting. The characters are amazing, their connections to each other and the story is so intricate. If you want a really good YA thriller, this is it. I’m still stunned that this is Myers Sain’s debut novel. It’s just so good. Keep an eye out for my review coming in March!

Any Way the Wind Blows by Rainbow Rowell (2 Stars)

I only read this for the serotonin I get from marking a series as “completed” on my reading tracker. To be honest, Carry On should have been a standalone. This book was exceptionally average and unnecessary and I’m glad I finished it.

You’ll Be the Death of Me by Karen M. McManus (3.5 Stars)

I had high hopes for this book, especially after the disaster that was The Cousins. Unfortunately, this one was pretty middle of the road for me too. Keep your eyes open for my review coming later this month!

A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers (3.5 Stars)

This book felt like a warm hug and I’m so glad I got to read it. I have to admit that I didn’t like it as much as the rest of Becky Chambers’ books, but it was a fun read. I’ll post all of my thoughts in a special blog post soon!

The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd (5 Stars)

This book was something I didn’t know I needed. I still cannot believe I got to read this with my own eyes. My review for this is coming in March, so keep an eye out!

  1. I think we kind of switched preferences with Dark and Shallow Lies and the Atlas Six haha I don’t remember what exactly I rated both books, but I imagine it was somewhat those ratings but on the other book each haha I’m glad you enjoyed it though! It was a very interesting debut thriller for sure.

    1. LOL! I think I hyped up TA6 too much in my brain, but I knew nothing about Dark and Shallow Lies going in.
