In a nutshell, are the Bergman Brothers’ books worth reading? Absolutely yes! Let’s get into the reviews!

Bergman Brothers Series Review

I have to admit that this series has very quickly become one of my favourites. Not only are the characters amazing, but these books contain some of the most progressive neurodivergent representations I’ve read. If that’s not enough of a reason to read these, let’s hop in.

The Bergman Brothers Series is available on Scribd!

Only When It’s Us

Only When It’s Us Synopsis:

Only When Its Us

Ryder

Ever since she sat next to me in class and gave me death eyes, Willa Sutter’s been on my shit list. Why she hates me, I don’t know. What I do know is that Willa is the kind of chaos I don’t need in my tidy life. She’s the next generation of women’s soccer. Wild hair, wilder eyes. Bee-stung lips that should be illegal. And a temper that makes the devil seem friendly.

She’s a thorn in my side, a menacing, cantankerous, pain-in-the-ass who’s turned our Business Mathematics course into a goddamn gladiator arena. I’ll leave this war zone unscathed, coming out on top…And if I have my way with that crazy-haired, ball-busting hellion, that will be in more than one sense of the word.

Willa

Rather than give me the lecture notes I missed like every other instructor I’ve had, my asshole professor tells me to get them from the silent, surly flannel-wearing mountain man sitting next to me in class. Well, I tried. And what did I get from Ryder Bergman? Ignored. What a complete lumbersexual neanderthal. Mangy beard and mangier hair. Frayed ball cap that hides his eyes. And a stubborn refusal to acknowledge my existence.

I’ve battled men before, but with Ryder, it’s war. I’ll get those notes and crack that Sasquatch nut if it’s the last thing I do, then I’ll have him at my mercy. Victory will have never tasted so sweet.

Review of Only When It’s Us

This story made me cry. It hit some very emotional beats (such as the loss of a parent) and how to recover from life-changing circumstances. Willa & Ryder are one of my favourite couples of the Bergman Brothers series, and I really loved their story.

They start off as sorta-enemies, but they quickly become friends, and something more. It’s a little convoluted, but that’s half the fun of the story.

In my opinion, the deaf representation in this book is neutral, but I am not deaf-HOH and I have seen own voices reviews criticizing the rep. While I do think Chloe Liese generally does a good job with her representation, more research should have gone into this book.

Always Only You

Always Only You Synopsis:

Always Only You

Ren

The moment I met her, I knew Frankie Zeferino was someone worth waiting for. Deadpan delivery, secret heart of gold, and a rare one-dimpled smile that makes my knees weak, Frankie has been forbidden since the day she and I became coworkers, meaning waiting has been the name of my game—besides, hockey, that is.

I’m a player on the team, she’s on staff, and as long as we work together, dating is off-limits. But patience has always been my virtue. Frankie won’t be here forever—she’s headed for bigger, better things. I just hope that when she leaves the team and I tell her how I feel, she won’t want to leave me behind, too.

Frankie

I’ve had a problem at work since the day Ren Bergman joined the team: a six-foot-three hunk of happy with a sunshine smile. I’m a grumbly grump and his ridiculously good nature drives me nuts, but even I can’t entirely ignore that hot tamale of a ginger with icy eyes, the perfect playoff beard, and a body built for sin that he’s annoyingly modest about.

Before I got wise, I would have tripped over myself to get a guy like Ren, but with my diagnosis, I’ve learned what I am to most people in my life—a problem, not a person. Now, opening my heart to anyone, no matter how sweet, is the last thing I’m prepared to do.

Always Only You Review

Okay but the PINING in this Bergman Brothers book was phenomenal. I did not think two people could pine as hard as these two, but man was I wrong. I was invested in Frankie and Ren from the start.

I think Frankie is my favourite FMC, thanks to us being so similar. I saw a lot of myself in her and I understood why she is the way she is. The autism representation is very productive and it showed me some things in myself that I wasn’t even aware of.

Always Only You is definitely a stand-out in this series.

Ever After Always

Ever After Always Synopsis:

ever after always 1

Aiden

I’ve spent twelve years loving Freya Bergman and twelve lifetimes won’t be enough to give her everything she deserves. She’s my passionate, tender-hearted wife, my best friend, and all I want is to make her happy. But the one thing that will make her happiest is the one thing I’m not sure I can give her: a baby.

With the pressure of providing and planning for a family, my anxiety’s at an all-time high, and I find myself pulling away, terrified to tell my wife how I’m struggling. But when Freya kicks me out, I realize that pulling back has turned into pushing too far. Now it’s the fight of a lifetime to save our marriage.

Freya

I love my cautious, hard-working husband. He’s my partner and best friend, the person I know I can count on most. Until one day I realize the man I married is nowhere to be found. Now Aiden is quiet and withdrawn, and as the months wear on, the pain of our growing distance becomes too much.

As if weathering marriage counseling wasn’t enough, we’re thrown together for an island getaway to celebrate my parents’ many years of perfect marriage while ours is on the brink of collapse. Despite my meddling siblings and a week in each other’s constant company, this trip somehow gets us working through the trouble in paradise. I just can’t help worrying, when we leave paradise and return to the real world, will trouble find us again?

Ever After Always Review

I will be the first to admit that this is not my favourite book in the Bergman Brothers series. I don’t really like marriage in crisis kinds of stories (that’s my fault, not the book’s fault) but this one was sweet and romantic nonetheless.

The best thing about Ever After Always book was all the sibling shenanigans. It made me want to have a big family, and then I remember that I am an introvert, so I’ll just stick to wanting fictional big families.

With You Forever

With You Forever Synopsis:

with you forever

Axel

Rooney Sullivan is sunshine incarnate. Warm, bright, always smiling, she’s everything I’m not and the last person I have any business desiring. Desperate to hide a hopeless attraction, I’ve done everything possible to keep my distance…until a charades game gone wrong brought that to a grinding halt.

Since then, steering clear of Rooney has been impossible. In a matter of months, she’s kissed me speechless, commandeered my art career, and infiltrated not only my dreams but my home. The woman who was once avoidable has become the last thing I needed: temptingly within reach.

Rooney

Axel Bergman is a gorgeous grump who doesn’t have the time of day for me. Thankfully, I’ve kept my crush under wraps…well, until I kissed him. Charades got away from me, okay? It was an accident! I haven’t seen him since, which is for the best. My life is a mess, and the last thing I need is to embarrass myself further with the man who avoids me like that’s his job rather than painting modern masterpieces.

It seems the universe, however, has a different plan. When Axel and I unexpectedly find our paths—and problems—converging, a marriage of convenience proves the perfect solution. At least, until I’m facing my most serious problem yet: a once-loveless marriage of convenience that’s inconveniently become a love match, after all.

With You Forever Review

This book made me laugh out loud so many times. It was lacking in Bergmans, but I’m glad we got to spend so much time with Axel and Rooney. With You Forever is the perfect marriage of convenience romance, filled with steamy cooking lessons, a really adorable 7-year-old, and Axel Bergman in glasses.

You need to read it immediately.

Everything For You

Everything For You Synopsis:

Everything For You

Gavin

We’ve been teammates for two years, but it feels like a lifetime that Oliver Bergman’s been on my last nerve. A demanding captain and veteran player, I’m feared and friendless, while he’s the beloved rising star, all sunshine smiles and upbeat team spirit. To make matters worse, he’s obscenely attractive. In short: he’s genetically designed to get under my skin.

Avoiding Oliver has been my survival tactic on and off the field. But when Coach drops the bomb that we’re now co-captains, avoiding him becomes impossible, and keeping the truth from him–let alone my distance–is harder than ever.

Oliver

Life was great until soccer legend Gavin Hayes joined the team and proved he’s nothing like the guy I grew up idolizing. Instead, he’s a giant–albeit gorgeous–grump who lives to rain on my parade. I’ve sworn off pranks since entering the public eye, so rather than settle our differences the Bergman way, I’ve had to settle for killing Gavin with kindness. There’s just one problem: killing him with kindness is killing me.

To make matters worse, Coach gives us an ultimatum: put an end to our enmity or say goodbye to being captains. I’m prepared to be miserable while we meet her demands and make nice, but the last thing I expect is to discover an explosive attraction we can’t help but act on, and worse yet, to realize the man hiding beneath Gavin’s gruff exterior is all I’ve ever wanted.

Everything For You Review

I binged this Bergman Brothers book in one day, IT WAS SO GOOD. I didn’t know how much I needed sports romance in my life until reading this book. The pining, the forbidden aspect of being on the same sports team, the grumpy/sunshine trope. All of it was top-tier.

If you liked Ted Lasso, Everything For You is perfect for you.

If Only You

If Only You Synopsis:

if only you

Ziggy

I’m the youngest player on the National Soccer team, the baby of my family, and thoroughly sick of being underestimated, so I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands. Which is where my brother’s best friend and teammate, the infamous Sebastian Gauthier, comes in.

Seb needs to rehab his reputation. I want to give mine an edge. So I propose a fake friendship with real benefits: spending time in the public eye, my good-girl image and his bad-boy notoriety rubbing off on each other. He’s my devious, dark-haired fantasy come to life, but his destructive ways make it easy to keep him in the (fake) friend zone. Or so I thought, until I start to see the heart of gold he’s been hiding beneath that sinister surface…

Sebastian

Like any self-respecting reprobate, I’ve been spiraling downward, and finally I’ve hit rock bottom. My hockey career and sponsorships are in jeopardy, and while I’m not ready to actually reform my ways, I’m happy to pretend that I have, to secure the life I’m on the brink of losing.

So when my best friend’s sister, Ziggy Bergman, proposes a public “friendship” to revamp our reputations, it’s an offer I can’t refuse. Up till now, I’ve stayed away from Ren’s sweet, shy little sister to avoid any risk of ruining my one good friendship. But I reassure myself there’s no risk in our scheme. I’ll fake a friendship with Ziggy, fix my reputation, and get back to hockey, the one and only thing I love. At least, it was, until what began as a transactional arrangement became the most loving relationship I’ve ever known.

If Only You Review

I was lucky enough to get a review copy of this book, and I think it might dethrone Always Only You as my favourite book in the Bergman Brothers series.

It was everything I ever wanted! You can read my full review here!

  1. I’ve only read the first two books in this series and loved them. I need to finish the series.

  2. I’ve only read Always Only You and it was my first book by the author and I loved it! A small thing that made me give my heart to it was the way the MC bonded with the guy’s sister. It was too emotional and I love all of the characters in the book tbh. Excited to hear more of your thoughts on the last one, if you say it might dethrone AOY then it must be great!

  3. I have yet to dive into this Bergman Brothers universe, but a lot of these sound really cute! It seems like the author has a real love for grump/sunshine as a trope – and lots of sports! I might have to pick up the first one soon and see what I think 🙂 Loved reading all your reviews! And that latest one you received an ARC of definitely sounds the most up my alley!

  4. BIANCA THIS ACTUALLY SOUNDS SO GOOD?? its the first time im hearing of the series but. YOU MAKE ALL THE CHARACTERS SOUND AMAZING. im so glad you enjoyed them all!! ALSO I LOVE THE REVIEWS SO MUCH THEYRE A LOT OF FUN TO READ.
