Goodreads Description: Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter.

And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likable guy who’s terrible at first impressions. Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her “sob closet,” and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses. But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor . . . especially when he calls in a favor she can’t refuse.

Yours Truly Review

I binge-read Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez in two sittings. If I didn’t desperately need to sleep, I probably would have stayed up the whole night to finish it. Jimenez did a fantastic job of creating a heartwarming and emotional story that kept me hooked from the first page to the last.

Yours Truly feels like a Grey’s Anatomy episode, but one with a happy ending. We follow Briana, a recently divorced trauma doctor, and Jacob, a trauma doctor with anxiety. They get off on the wrong foot, but soon the misunderstanding turns into an amazing and heartwarming friendship, and then something more.

I found the characters to be well-developed and relatable, especially Jacob. His anxiety presents similarly to mine, and it was just so refreshing to read about Briana loving him just the way he is. It didn’t seem like she was going out of her way for him, she just instantly accepted who he was and what he needed and then did it. It made me sob. The same goes the other way. Briana has some trauma from her ex-husband cheating on her, and Jacob handles it with so much grace and sympathy. The chemistry between Briana and Jacob is so good and the romance is so beautifully written.

The pacing of the story is perfect, with just the right amount of tension and a little bit of family drama. There are some heavier elements, such as Briana’s brother’s illness, but it too has a happy ending.

Overall, I highly recommend Yours Truly to anyone looking for a heartwarming and emotional read. Jimenez’s writing style is captivating and the story is beautiful. It’s definitely a book that will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading it.

  1. This book is excellent! I absolutely loved reading my ARC when I got it in December. I just purchased the physical copy and can’t wait for a reread. I might go through all of this series again in the near future because I just love Abby’s books so much.
