O.W.L’s Readathon 2019

OWLS ReadathonO.W.L’s Readathon 2019

Here it is! I am participating in my first ever readathon! I’m usually way too busy for readathons. I have no set schedule and I often find it difficult to read because most days I don’t even sleep properly. I finally found a readathon I could fit into my non-schedule and it is a pretty cool one. So, here we go!

How it works

This magical readathon was started by G from @book_roast (seriously, she put so much effort into it, go check out her Youtube channel). The readathon is based around the exams students take at Hogwarts. The  O.W.Ls (Ordinary Wizarding Levels) and the N.E.W.Ts (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests). A career guide is provided (which looks AMAZING btw), and along with the career descriptions, the guide will detail the subjects you need to take to pursue a career.

Once you have selected a career, you can check out the prompt list, which details what kind of book you need to read to “pass” the subject. If you want to know more just check out G’s Youtube Channel!

My career

I chose Curse Breaker as my career! This is a highly adventurous occupation all to do with removing hexes, jinxes and curses from illegally bewitched objects or places. Curse Breakers need to be precise, thorough and have an excellent memory. Even though my short term memory is horrible (I am sleep deprived), I think this career is pretty cool and I’m going to love being it in my imagination.

The subjects

In order to become a curse breaker, I need the following subjects:

Ancient Runes (Retelling)

Arithmancy (Book with more than one author)

Charms (Adult Book)

Defense Against the Dark Arts (Book starting with an R)

Potions (Sequel)

Transfiguration  (Red cover or sprayed edges)

My TBR

I have the following books on my TBR:

A Curse so Dark and Lonely (Ancient Runes)

The Blacksmith and the Dragonfly (Arithmancy)

Ruined Plans (Charms)

The Raven Boys (Defense Against the Dark Arts)

The Sleeping Prince (Potions)

Ace of Shades (Transfiguration)

Lets Chat 1Let’s Chat

And there you have it! Will you be joining me in taking my O.W.L’s? Or are you doing a different reading challenge this month?

  1. I am going to do the OWLs this year and I’m picking Mind Medic or Mind Mage? Whatever the proper title is. I’m very excited about it. I hope you enjoy all of your books! I’m also reading Ace of Shades and I think I put it up for the Red Cover too. I need to check :))

    1. That sounds awesome! Good luck on your reading! And let me know what you thought of Ace of Shades.
