2024 Reading Journal Flip Through

2024 Reading Journal Flip Through

2024 is going to be a good year for journaling! I started my reading journal journey in 2023, and I just wanted to see if I could do it consistently throughout the year. I managed it, so I feel like I’ve gained some confidence for my 2024 reading journal. Today I’m giving you a reading journal flip through! Let’s hop in!

2024 Reading Journal Flip Through

Last year I didn’t have any particular theme with my reading journal, but this year I wanted to go for a sort of light academia theme. I had this cute washi tape I got in an Illumicrate box that is green with marble busts on it, and I ended up using that a lot. However, I get most of my stuff from Bubblegum Fringe, so check them out!

Cover Page

I’m so proud of how this cover page turned out. You can see the green washi tape below, along with some other stickers and things I had on hand. I really tried to use what I had this year, as I’ve begun collecting so much stationary and I don’t want it to go to waste.

Reading Mood Board and Tropes Galaxy

I got the idea from Covers with Cassidy to do a reading Pinterest mood board, just to envision what I want my reading year to look like. I’m sort of using it as a vision board for my reading goals as well. I’ve talked about it on Instagram, and I’ll do an overview of my reading goals later!

Another thing I wanted to add was a “tropes galaxy”. I love space, and I had a bunch of space stickers I never used, so I thought why not make a tropes galaxy? I wrote down all of the tropes and book genres I love and decorated them with a bunch of stars and moons.

These are truly some of my favourite pages.

Reading Log & Most Anticipated Releases

My reading log is still empty (as I haven’t finished any books yet) so it’s not pictured. But I did fill in my most anticipated releases. I did these by month, which leaves some space open for when I hear about a new release. Last year I had only 5 most anticipated releases, as I was planning on making a dedicated reading blog for those releases. However things didn’t work out that way, and I ended up not reading those books. So I just decided to list them, instead of putting too much pressure on myself to read them all.

The Library

Next is a page I’m super proud of. It’s a shelf filled with all the books I currently own and have not read yet. A staggering 89, which is a little unhinged. I’ve made it my mission to tackle my physical TBR in 2024, and this way I have a visual representation of how I’m doing so far.

Goals & Challenges

These two pages sorta go together, as my goals relate to the reading challenges I want to do this year. My reading goals for 2024 include:

  • Read 60 books
  • Read at least half of my physical TBR
  • Read more of what I love, not chasing hype
  • Annotate more books
  • Read more diversely
  • Read Queer
  • Enjoy making bookish content

So I have challenge spreads set up for reading queer and diversely, and I will also be doing the Buzzwordathon (as I do every year). Are you participating in any reading challenges?

First Lines

I can’t remember where I got this idea from (I watched about a thousand reading journal setup videos), but I thought it was such a cool way to document what you read.

I’ve left myself quite some space to write down the first lines of all the books I read in 2024. I already have some filled out.

January Spread

And lastly, in this reading journal flip through, I have my January spread. I won’t necessarily stick to the same theme each month from now on, but January sort of matches the theme of the yearly spread.

January 2024 Reading Spread

I track a lot of stats in my Notion Reading Journal and my Reading Tracker Spreadsheet, so I don’t have those stats included in my reading journal. Things like series trackers, monthly stats, etc. are left for the spreadsheets.

My reading journal is more of a scrapbook of what I read, and for me to write notes on my books and make pretty pages. Hopefully, I’ll finish a book soon and be able to show you some more spreads, but for now, we’ve come to the end of this reading journal flip through.
