2022 Reading Goals
Hi friends! Happy New Year! The year is starting off with a bang (I’ve already bought three books and it’s the third of Jan, oops), and I’ve set up my 2022 reading goals. I don’t usually set reading goals (apart from my Goodreads goal) but this year I’m trying something new. Let’s get into it!
2022 Reading Goals
My 2022 reading goals are:
- To read less – 52 books – I barely remember what I read, and I constantly read mediocre books. I want to put more care into my reading, even if it means reading less.
- Clearing my Netgalley shelf – I have 17 books left on my NG shelf and I want to clear them out this year.
- Request less – only request books from Netgalley if I can realistically read them before the publication date.
- Read more of my physical TBR – I have 95 unread physical books that I want to get to.
- Finish more series – read series consecutively and finish more series.
- Buy less – read 8 physical books before buying a new book.
- Read more adult fantasy.
These are my goals for 2022. Let’s hope I can stick to them.
2021 End of Year Review
I also want to wrap up 2021 with some quick stats from my reading tracker.
Most read genre – my most read genre for 2021 was unsurprisingly fantasy (35.4%) with romance coming in at 17.7% and sci-fi at 12.7%.
Age range – young adult was my most read age range (44.3%) followed by adult (39.2%) and new adult (16.5%). I definitely read more adult books this year, which is a win for me.
Format – my most read format was eARCs (29.1%), which is not surprising. I tried really hard in 2021 to clear out my NG shelf, so I’m glad I made a dent in it. Finished copies came in at 27.1%, which I’m hoping to ramp up next year.
Ratings – I thought my reading was pretty mediocre, but my stats say otherwise. 4 star reads made up 39.2% of my total reads, with 3 stars being 24.1% and 5 stars only being 16.5%. I would like to have some more 5 star reads in 2022.
Series update – I’ll do a full blog post for this one, but I wanted to quickly talk about the series I started and finished in 2021. I finished 5 series in 2021, but I started 12. Let’s hope I can finish some series in 2022.
Let’s chat!
What are your 2022 reading goals?
I love that reading and requesting less is on there. Perhaps those will be my 2023 goals.
I need to learn some serious self control lol.
My reading goal for 2022 is to read 52 books
It wil be a big challenge because I never read more than 30 books in one year but like they say “go big or go home” 😂
Good luck! I hope you get to all of the books.
thank you! 😃
You can doo it! The goals you set look great! I especially like making the conscious effort to read less.
I want to put more care into my reading, even if it means reading less.
Oh my goodness, this resonates with me so much!!
