October 2022 Illumicrate Unboxing

As I’ve mentioned before, book boxes are often hit or miss for me. They are expensive, and if the book isn’t something I like, the box isn’t worth it for me. So I have to be very careful when buying book boxes. I’m a little sad to say that while the items and the book are both amazing, I am a little disappointed.

It feels like this box is missing something (it is, I didn’t get the papercraft) but besides that, it needs some bookmarks or a pin or just something extra. Here’s what was actually in the box:

The Whispering Dark by Kelly Andrew

The Whispering Dark Synopsis: Delaney Meyers-Petrov is tired of being seen as fragile just because she’s Deaf. So when she’s accepted into a prestigious program at Godbole University that trains students to slip between parallel worlds, she’s excited for the chance to prove herself. I really love this edition of the book. It comes with art on the inside of the dust jacket, as well as sprayed edges and stenciling on the naked hardback. It truly is gorgeous. You can check out my review of The Whispering Dark here.

Moths Among Dreamers Blanket

The other main reason I wanted to get this box was for the blanket. I’ve missed out on bookish blankets before, and I really wanted to get one. This blanket is really soft and fuzzy, perfect for winter reading!

Underworld Teacup and Saucer

This is my favourite teacup and saucer set and it fits the theme of the book so well. These were designed by Niall Grant and I love them.

Blood and Death Cable Ties

This is a useful item, but not something I would have picked out or bought for myself. I feel very neutral about it, and this box as a whole.
