May has been a difficult month for me, tbh. Reading-wise and life-wise. This month went by so fast, I feel like I barely had any time to do anything. However, I did manage to read some books this month, so let’s jump into my May 2022 Reading Wrap-Up!
5 Underrated Sci-Fi Books to Read ASAP!
May Reading Stats
Monthly 2022 Reading Wrap-Up
- We Were Liars by E. Lockhart (3 Stars)

- Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood (4 Stars)
- Sisters of the Vast Black by Lina Rather (3.5 Stars)
- Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney (4 Stars)
Most Disappointing Read
I’m sad that I have to give most disappointing read to Portrait of a Thief. It was not a bad book, but I had it on my 5-star prediction list and it was only 3-stars. It was a nice read, but unfortunately not a new favourite.
Favourite Read
I am definitely giving this to Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood. It was a polarising read for me, as you’ll see when my review goes up closer to the release date. However, Hazelwood’s writing and character-building never cease to amaze me and I loved the romance in this book.
Most Surprising Read
This one goes to Sisters of the Vast Black. It came up on my recommendations page on Scribd and I decided to give it a go. I’m a huge fan of novellas (sci-fi novellas in particular) and anything Tor puts out. This was no exception. I loved the premise, the worldbuilding, and the action sequence at the end. Seriously, nuns in space is becoming a niche trope for me. I’m here for it.

My May was also difficult life and reading wise! There was so much uni stress and general anxiety and somehow the month was over so quickly. I did end up reading great books but most of the time I just got sucked into various internet rabbit holes instead of reading. I just started Portrait of a Thief and I was super excited about it but I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews and I’m not that far into it but it’s definitely not as good as I hoped, curious to see if it gets better for me. I hope you have a wonderful June and life treats you well! ✨
ahh i’m so sorry Portrait of a Thief didn’t live up to your expectations 😭😭 there’s so many mixed reviews about it and tbh I’M SCARED NOW 😭 but YAY!! 5 books is AMAZING! I can’t wait for your review of Love on the Brain – I’M SO GLAD YOU ENJOYED IT!! love the wrap up, and here’s to an amazing june!!
